Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how to get it deleted. We have tried to write this so it can actually be read.

The short version
We collect what you type into the booking form and what your card payment tells us. We use it to give you the advice you paid for. We share it with three suppliers who help us run the service. We do not sell it, and we do not send marketing you did not ask for.
Who is responsible
We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Our details are at the bottom of this page. If you want to exercise any of your rights, email[email protected].
What we collect, and why
| Data | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone | To reply to you and arrange the call | Performance of a contract |
| What you tell us about the property — the listing, your questions, photographs, survey reports | To give the advice itself | Performance of a contract |
| Payment confirmation and booking reference | To match your payment to your enquiry, and for our accounts | Contract, and legal obligation for tax records |
| Analytics about pages viewed | To see which pages are useful | Consent — off unless you accept the cookie banner |
We do not ask for special category data. Survey reports occasionally mention things like accessibility adaptations; if that applies to you and you would rather redact it, please do — we do not need it.
Who we share it with
We use three suppliers, and no others:
- Stripe — takes the card payment. Stripe is the controller of your card data; we never see or store card numbers. See Stripe's own privacy policy.
- Formspree — delivers the booking form to our inbox.
- Google Analytics — page analytics, only if you accept cookies. IP anonymisation is on.
Our email is hosted by Microsoft and the site is served by Cloudflare. Some of these suppliers process data outside the UK; where they do, transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent safeguards.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with other builders or agents.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become bookings — 12 months, then deleted.
- Consultation records — 6 years, because that is the period in which a claim could be brought and we may need to show what we advised.
- Payment and accounting records — 6 years plus the current year, as HMRC requires.
- Analytics — 14 months.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the data we hold about you;
- correct anything inaccurate;
- delete it, where we do not have to keep it for tax or legal reasons;
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- send it to you or another provider in a portable format;
- withdraw consent for analytics at any time — reject in the cookie banner, or clear your browser storage for this site.
Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.
Complaints
If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office atico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
Covered separately in our cookie policy.
Children
The service is for adults buying or owning property. We do not knowingly collect data about children.
